MSE Programs announces international partnership with Portugal

Beginning in January 2007, the Master’s of Software Engineering Program expanded its presence in Europe by embarking on a new and exciting collaboration with the University of Coimbra, Portugal. In a joint dual degree initiative, students apply to the University of Coimbra MSE program, subject to the same review and acceptance standards of all program applicants. The accepted candidates begin their course of study and projects in Portugal, arriving on Carnegie Mellon’s campus to study in the spring semester.

Established in 1290, the University of Coimbra maintains a strong international visibility. Its history in the area of software development includes the introduction of a graduate Informatics degree program in 1983, followed quickly thereafter by the offering of an undergraduate program in 1984. With its strong industry affiliations and notable infrastructure, the University's Faculty of Science and Technology is capably positioned to support the teaching of advanced technology.

Carnegie Mellon's Master's of Software Engineering Program is thrilled to announce this collaborative effort to make available state-of-the-art software engineering education in Portugal and throughout Europe.
